The focus of the paintings in this show are about water reflections. Using nature as the springboard, I love to use the abstract nature of “water reflections” as a design element & subject matter. There are endless possibilities of how to interpret “water reflections”. The paintings are from a series I have been working on for the past 3- 4 years. I am constantly working in nature with an eye to environmental changes. In my artwork, I typically take a theme from nature and focus on abstracting the images that I see in the natural environment. I like to experiment with pattern, line, color and value and try to capture the essence of this subject matter. I typically work in oils & I enjoy the luminosity of color and the many possible application techniques.
I use water as a theme whether is beautiful or destructive. I have done paintings reflecting the horrific damaging effect of Katrina and other floods. I live on a river in Lowell and have a view of water from my home. I see the daily effects of Climate change reflected in the river and observe all of its changes according to our current extreme weather changes.
I have been working as a visual artist all of my life. I have exhibited in the Boston, New England & New York area for over 50 years and have shown my work in juried group shows & one-person shows in art galleries, art centers, business facilities, on-line galleries and art museums.
